HISTORY
Learn about the chronology of Futura’s history, from the creation of the firm, trajectory and progress over the years. Decade after decade, our history reflects the growth of the Industry and the positioning of our differential advantage in the market. Futura, 50 years of commitment, innovation and advancement.
DECADE OF ’70
Futura is founded, a family business created by brothers Oscar and Rubén Rodriguez. It was established at 300 Grito de Asencio Street in the Pompeya neighborhood as a workshop for machining forged flanges, taking August 30, 1974 as its founding date and with the name of Futura Hnos. S.R.L.
DÉCADA DEL ’80
We achieved two major milestones; The machining plant on Route 4 and the first Forging Plant are inaugurated, both in the town of Lomas de Zamora, Province of Buenos Aires. The administrative and shipping area are maintained in Pompeya. At the end of the ’80s, the company began to make new investments, acquiring a new forging plant located in Villa Albertina, also in Lomas de Zamora, province of Buenos Aires, which assured us greater production and faster delivery.
DECADE OF ’90
As a product of constant growth, at the beginning of this decade a 7000 KGM ERIE hammer was acquired and installed, a key element in manufacturing for this time. In addition, the strategic transfer of the distribution center to the Federal Capital is proposed, unifying everything in one place. The “Lacarra Plant” is inaugurated right in front of Avellaneda Park. This Plant becomes key as products in which machining, administration, shipping and sales tasks will be concentrated. This decision marked great progress for the company. During 1995, international projection began, expanding to South America, initially focusing on the countries of Bolivia and Peru. As far as Quality is concerned, the process begins to adapt its Management System according to the ISO 9000 STANDARD and ISO 9001 Quality Certification is established as a goal, obtaining it in 1996 and becoming the pioneer company in the field that reaches this Certification scale at the National Level and maintains it to this day with the same degree of commitment, training and professionalism. Given the growth that the company had, along with the commitment of its members, in 1998 a forging plant with greater capacity and technology was acquired, located in the Gualeguaychú Industrial Park in the province of Entre Ríos. With this addition, the striking capacity increased with 16-ton and 25-ton hammers (one of the largest in the Argentine Republic) and a 4,000-ton press. Futura Hnos. S.R.L. is consolidated and positioned as one of the leading companies in the supply of high quality forged products.
DECADE OF 2000
The macroeconomic situation of the country at the beginning of the century was complicated, but from 2002 and 2003, post. Devaluation, hand in hand with exports to Latin America, we recovered our productive capacity, starting a process of gradual growth. After 2004, with the domestic market reactivated, growth became sustained, consolidating it with the Gualeguaychú Forging Plant in full operation. With market demand strengthening, we became a leading supplier of flanges, nationally and key within the Oil & Gas sector. During 2008, a significant investment in technology was made, incorporating 4 state-of-the-art machining centers (CNC) into the production line. Another contribution in infrastructure was the incorporation of large-capacity thermo induction ovens, which directly benefited our customers in a direct improvement in order delivery times.
DECADE OF ’10
An additional thermo-induction oven and endless cutters with greater capacity and speed were incorporated into the production process. The welding area was also expanded and modernized. Taking advantage of the inertia of the sustained growth of the previous decade, the development of a New Strategic Plan begins; “Futura 2013 – 2020”, which aims at the professionalization of Human Resources and the internal and external processes of the administration. In 2014, the Marketing and Customer Service Department was created, which will provide improvements for our clients and a portfolio of new products and services. In 2018, the production sector of Special Products was inaugurated, designed to suit the requirements and needs of our clients. To complement this initiative, the Engineering Management was created to provide technical support to both production and advice to our clients. Thanks to attention to the needs of the industry, the model of Quick Closing Lids called “Ring Lock” was developed, now common in the market.
DECADE OF (2020 onwards)
The year 2020 had a traumatic start with the pandemic generated due to COVID-19, which had a strong impact on operations. Thanks to being strategic suppliers to the Oil & Gas market, work was able to resume and supply the industry a few months after the beginning of the restrictions. Having successfully overcome this complex year, productive investments for growth were resumed. In 2021, a pantograph was acquired to promote the concept of special products, and a Rolling Machine, which allows producing large-sized flanges more quickly and reducing costs. During 2022, a retrofitting of the Erfurt 4000 press, one of the largest in South America, was carried out with the support of the PRODEPRO program. In that same year, productive investments continued, with the acquisition of a state-of-the-art CNC. It is noteworthy that the certification of ASME standards was achieved for the entire range of Quick Closing Lids, being the only ones in South America with this certification of high importance for the industry, which highlights and certifies the quality of our products. As a prelude to our 50th anniversary, in 2023, the business concept was expanded by incorporating the commercial and technical offices located in Puerto Madero. In them, our commercial, customer service and engineering teams come together to offer new solutions, and generate products and services tailored to our clients.
